Re: The Garrens Comedy Troupe 20th Anniversary Show

I am miffed that the reunion show was not held in Podunkville, Pennsylvania so that I could attend. How did it go?

Re: What not to do during a talk in sacrament meeting

Momma, that's a great point. I was thinking about that yesterday during our youth speaker's talk. He is a recent convert along with his family, and is probably only 12 or 13. He's new enough to the Church that I guess he didn't know he was "supposed to" tell us how Webster's dictionary def...

Re: how do you cook your Easter ham?

Huh. This year for Easter we had lamb at my husband's family's dinner and turkey at my family's dinner. Also, no deviled eggs (sad!) because no one dyed any eggs this year.

Now I really want a ham sandwich and a deviled egg.

Re: Starting a new share some good news

If it turns out you still need more boxes and prefer that they be free, I always hit up the local auto parts stores and liquor stores. Both tend to have a ton of small, sturdy boxes that were meant for transporting heavy and/or fragile things, and they are also fairly uniform in size. Another thing ...

Re: Funny dream

So. I'm due to have a baby sometime around the 29th, but currently it's not me who is having crazy pregnancy dreams, it's my husband. The other night he woke me up to tell me that he dreamed I went into labor at Bed, Bath, and Beyond and he called 911 and described what was happening, and the parame...

That does sound cute, KMD! I even have some mini candy canes left over from Christmas, so I may give that a try.

Re: A New Thread For Whining and General Gnashing of Teeth

Momma, we just had a faculty meeting last week where we had a presentation about the state code of ethics and all the behaviors that can get you suspended or fired, and one of the case studies was about a teacher driving a student home. Granted, this particular guy was a total creeper, but in our di...

Re: Recommendations

That's funny about Brad Pitt and the eating. The other night we watched "Crazy, Stupid, Love" and there's this scene where Ryan Gosling is standing around waiting for someone, and he's wearing a hot tailored suit and sunglasses, leaning against a railing, and eating a slice of pizza. My hu...

Re: Funny dream

I normally do not dream much that I can remember, but I am having the most crazy pregnant lady dreams! Most of them are actually really inappropriate to talk about, and that kind of weirds me out. The funniest one was when I dreamed I was at my parents' house hanging out in my old bedroom with Lady ...

Re: Curiously inappropriate things seen at work

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone. I do think it is the right thing to do to send this kid a letter. Some of my initial hesitancy came from the fact that his crime allegedly happened on school property. I showed the letter to my principal so he knows what's up and he didn't give me any indicati...

Re: Curiously inappropriate things seen at work

Today I got a letter in my school mailbox with a return address of "Inmate Mail: State Dept of Corrections." Um, what??? It was from a former student who graduated a few years ago and is now, apparently, incarcerated. This young man sent me a letter entirely in Spanish, telling me about ho...

Momma, I kept looking for the "like" button under your post! Well, if I could like it a million times, I would. I hope I can remember your good advice when I'm a parent.

Yeah, Momma, that guy you talked to on the phone is an idiot. Noon means 12:00 on the East coast just like it does everywhere else. (Native Pennsylvanian here.)

Momma, that reminds me of something my own momma always says about how even a really ugly patch can be part of a beautiful quilt. I'm going to share that weaver poem with her. I think she'll like that.

Re: Help from Provo/Oremites--suits & restaurants

I haven't lived in that area for several years, so I unfortunately wouldn't know what to tell you about where to buy suits. I think dark grey is fine for a funeral. People here in Pennsyltuckey tend to wear jeans and camouflage hats to everything though, so I may have a lower fashion bar than most. ...

Re: What's for Dinner?

I was reading this and wondering whatever happened to not only quidscribis, but also QaPlaIncognito. Does anyone know their real names so we could find out if either of them is on Facebook or Twitter? I think quid's name is Laurie Ashton (Something), but I dunno about QaPla. Quidscribis is Laurie A...
