Re: The Village's Mutual Improvement Society

Yeah, I'm back in the 172 range, but one day last week it flashed a 175 before settling on 174.8. It had been 10 days since that one awesome day when I was 169.8, and it really doesn't seem fair that I could have gained five pounds in 10 days, especially since I was still trying. I had definitely no...

Re: The Village's Mutual Improvement Society

I realized this morning that I seem to have started the post-Ambien eating thing again, which I only know because I find wrappers and dishes and stuff. I have to judge whether it's likely to have been me or someone else, and that can be a tossup, but there are some things I'm sure wouldn't have been...

Re: The Village's Mutual Improvement Society

I was 170.2 this morning. I had been 170.4 yesterday, and I thought maybe I'd get into the 169s today, so I took my phone upstairs with me last night so I could get a picture of the scale if it happened, but it didn't. Maybe I should have taken a picture of the 170.2, though, as kind of a last farew...

Re: Curiously inappropriate things seen at work

It's 45 degrees here, and the wind is blowing, and there's a kindergartner who came to school in a tank top. I don't know if his mom didn't look at him when she dropped him off, or if he refused to wear a jacket (I could see that being the case, easily) but he makes me cold just looking at him.

Re: Curiously inappropriate things seen at work

The Rotary Club came today to give dictionaries to all the 3rd graders. One teacher, who is not known for her common sense, told her students very firmly, "Do NOT look for inappropriate words in your dictionaries!" So what do you think was the first thing some of them did? Duh. Same thing ...

Re: The Village's Mutual Improvement Society

Progress is SO slow, but I guess as long as it's progress, it's good. I weighed 172.6 this morning, the first time I have been in the 172s since 1988. AND I did most of an Insanity workout this morning! I didn't get much air when I was supposed to be jumping, and my pushups lacked form, to say the l...

Re: The Village's Mutual Improvement Society

Mmmm. Pasta in butter. That would totally reflux my acid, but it sure would taste good going down. I hit 173 on the nose the other morning. Haven't been back since, but I'm still in the 173 range, so I feel pretty good. I went to the doctor just before Thanksgiving but saw the PA or whatever she is ...

Re: The Village's Mutual Improvement Society

That is great news! Scar tissue isn't great, but it beats tumors by a long shot! I'm feeling kind of sickly the last few days, not really sick, just not well. Nothing sounds good to eat, and I don't want to do anything but sleep. Unfortunately I have to be at work, so sleep is out of the question, a...

Re: Starting a new share some good news

I'm going to Portland tonight! It's supposed to rain all weekend there! I love rain! We'll be staying with Eric, and I'll get to snuggle with Dogcat, if he ever comes out from under the bed or wherever he goes to hide from strangers.

Re: The Village's Mutual Improvement Society

KMD, how are you feeling? Are you all recovered?

I haven't lost any more weight, but I've held steady at around 176. I'm walking every morning, so that's something.

Re: The joys of working with the public

Hahahahaha. A mom came in to pick up her friend's child. She said his name is Daniel Bravo. We don't have anyone by that name, but we do have a Marcos Bravo in the same grade. She was adamant that his name is NOT Marcos. Okay, a lot of parents call their kids by their middle names, and this kid's mi...

Re: The joys of working with the public

Today a parent turned left out of the parking lot and ran right over the Right Turn Only sign, smashing it to smithereens. Ironic. And I can't be everywhere, but if I'd been outside I'll bet I would have known who she was. We can't even get a description of the car, even though there were plenty of ...

Re: The Village's Mutual Improvement Society

Here I go, back the other direction. I was taking Qsemia, a fairly new prescription drug, for the two months that I was losing weight. I still only lost about a pound a week, but it was fairly steady. The prescription ran out three weeks ago. I have to pay $156 every month for it, AFTER insurance, s...

Re: A New Thread For Whining and General Gnashing of Teeth

I'm so glad it went so well! I'm back to wishing I could get sick and lie on the couch for a while, but I know it would get old. And I don't like being sick, of course. Not to mention that I couldn't take off any bereavement days when my brother died, even though I'm entitled to five days, because i...

Re: The Village's Mutual Improvement Society

I've only been sick enough not to want to eat for a total of maybe 15 days in my entire life. And of course I didn't like being that sick. I've always liked hospital food, though, in general. I haven't weighed in the 160s since 1988, but I don't think it would be worth being sick to get there. Feel ...

Unlicensed teacher? Does that just mean he hasn't finished his paperwork, or are we going to read about that school district in the newspaper?

Re: A New Thread For Whining and General Gnashing of Teeth

KMD, how are you doing? Did everything go as planned? Two major whines today: first, my left knee, the one I had replaced five years ago, hurts really badly. The pain is right on my kneecap. I've been walking six days a week for 30-40 minutes a day since mid-July, and I don't know what will happen t...

Re: Funny dream

I had one the other night that would have been a great story if it hadn't gone off-track at the end. It even would have made a good object lesson or analogy or something except for the pumpkins and cows. Well, you'll see. I had heard that there were some hungry cows at the top of a mountain road. I ...
