Re: Bake Me to Church

Shocked I remember my login! I find that his site is not conducive to using my phone to access. I'm sympathetic to the small business owner that is opposed to baking the cake. So yell at me. And I feel the recent six figure judgement against the baker who refused to bake said cake was outrageous. I ...

Coverup, and a bad one at that. We have noon on the east coast.

Maybe he's an easterner, as in from India?

Re: Happy Eric's birthday! And Totally Stupid Day!

The day we knew would come at last has come at last. Even though this is not a popular place any more, this Village, it behooves me to wish Eric a happy birthday here, and to wish all of you a happy Totally Stupid Day. I know what I've done and plan to do for the birthday, but have not yet decided ...

It's going to be outside in 99 degree weather. I hope the cake even exists by the time we want to eat some!

Wise in Utah

I'm in Orem, Utah, to attend the marriage of a friend's daughter. I drove out here to gift my car to her, so I got to see the prairie between MN and UT. It gave me a lot of time to spend with this friend. I thought about trying to meet up with some Sniderites while I'm here, but I've been tied up wi...

I'm sorry, but that made me laugh. Color me prudish.

I teach the 11-12 year olds and love it. Probably my favorite calling ever, and the second time I've held it (the last time was down in Florida). They are old enough to behave and to understand the scriptures, but young enough that they don't know more than you. A perfect match!

Another former pro athlete loses his life , this time in a car accident. This part made me groan, though: The Jeep veered over the raised concrete median divider, crossed over the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with a tree. I'd be interested in learning how the writer knew which way the tree ...

I went back to read through what I wrote a few years ago and found the text of this post missing for some reason. Is it somewhere else from which it can be recovered?

I wish I had taken the time to really find out more about him; he sounds like the kind of athlete we really NEED today for kids to look up to, as role models. From what it being said about him around here, that was certainly the truth. I wish I had known more about him as well. The statue of him th...

New topic. Harmon Killebrew, a great baseball player who was also a Mormon , passed away yesterday. The airways here in the Twin Cities are awash with 'Killer' memories and tributes. What is striking to me is that people are easily moved to tears over their favorite HK memories - not because of his ...

I don't want to imply that I am anti-teacher. I think teaching is a calling rather than an occupation, and I have been blessed to have had some awesome teachers in my life. As old as I am, I remember specific incidents when teachers reached out and helped me in a very personal way, stepping out of t...

This article made me angry. One particularly onerous quote: Politicians—especially Democratic politicians—generally do what the unions want. The unions, in turn, are very clear about what that is: They want happy members, so that those who run the unions get re-elected, and they want more members, ...

I'm not at all aware of any history between Pyro and Karenin; it was just so unlike anything she had ever posted that I was sure it wasn't intended to be as harsh as it came across to me. I'll butt out.
