The lurker uncloaks

Postby arbas » Wed 14 Aug, 2002 05:05 pm

Well, I have been logging into the old message board almost daily (though none of you would have known this). This will of course soon change as school will be starting and I will have plenty else to occupy my time. :? I won't be the only person at work for 30-40 hours a week, and have nothing to do. It sure has been a GREAT summer, and I am all too sorry to see it come to an end. This new site and message board look great, and I have enjoyed looking around. I hope you all enjoy yourselves, and I'll check in from time-to-time! :D See 'ya!

That's where that smell came from. I was worried that it was me!

One Year Anniversary

Postby Ryan Reeder » Fri 15 Aug, 2003 03:56 pm

Yeah, so we're two days late. And why start a new thread when I can bring this thread which was doing perfectly fine as the first thread ever retired, and the last thread on the board, back up to the front.

Then again, what if there's a 20 page limit? We can't lose the first thread. It's got historical value.

Anyway, so it's been a year and two days. On this board.

Nope, no such limit on this board. Don't you worry about that.

Oh really? Thanks. That was the only reason I refrained from creating a plethora of new threads; thinking twice before I created something new. Thanks for alleviating those fears.

And I still won't do stupid things. I might bring up a topic I've been thinking about a little here, see if it holds any interest. No resurrection of "Ryan's Weekly Radio Address" is forthcoming though. Not yet, anyway.

Cool.

For some reason, I popped by here tonight, and spent several hours reading back through old threads. There's some good stuff back there. (And some junk).

Then, I realized that tonight just happened to have been the ten year anniversary of the creation of this site. And I'm usually the guy to note these things. And here I am.

And here I am, late to the party, as usual. I woke up at 4:00 and couldn't get back to sleep, so I fired up Ol' Reliable and visited The Village.

Happy 10 year Anniversary to all of us! Despite the easy availability of Facebook, there is still a feeling of being home when we come to the Snider Board to talk about Stuff. Shoot, man, WE were a Social Network when Mark Zuckerburg was collecting Pogs and picking his nose!

And it's good to see you again, Ryan! Miss you, buddy!
Have a nice day, unless you already have other plans.

10 years ago I was still a lurker on this board. I'm glad I decided to come out of hiding and join the gang!

And Ryan, you have been MISSED around here, my friend! Don't go disappearing on us now!

I couldn't believe I never posted on this thread, but then I realized that when it started, I was in the depths of Wegener's Granulomatosis and chemo and prednisone, and so maybe wasn't sitting at the computer much. Of course I didn't have a laptop then. And Jeff didn't have a wife, much less three kids! Neither did Mike Masse', and Audrey wasn't married yet, and Angela, and the list goes on.

One of the bright spots of my day is when I click on the link and see that there are new postings.

Holy wow, Batman! Aside from my family and the Church, this is the longest I've belonged to any group. That's kind of cool.

Happy birthday, Snider Board. Here's to another 10 years!

Remember back when this happened? That was a long, long time ago! I had recently been diagnosed with Wegener's, so I was really, really sick at this point in time. A lot of water has gone under the bridge since then, that's for sure.

So, I'm wondering why we sort of just neglected this thread back into oblivion?
It has POTENTIAL, I tell you.

Wow! I sound very different now from how I sounded 11 years ago. ELEVEN!
If you smile at me I will understand, 'cause that is something everybody everywhere does in the same language.
