Slicehost looks very interesting. I am not sure if I am up to the task of managing everything via command line, but it might be fun. I'll have to give it some thought.

I've also been looking at SLHost.com that quidscribis recommended, and they look promising, too.

You think managing your webserver entirely by command line might be fun? You sound like my Linux professor from college. He was a huge command line fan, even when there were GUI-based ways to do things more quickly and easily. He must have thought it was fun. He was a little nuts, though.

Didn't you get a Mac so that you wouldn't have to do anything like this on your own computer?

No, I got a Mac so I wouldn't have to fix my computer anymore.

With a Dedicated host you wouldn't be fixing the hardware but whenever a problem does come up you will be responsible to fix the software problems which is what most computer problems consist of.

Question: Is $1.00 USD redundant? I think it is.

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure other countries use dollars, and even use the $ symbol. I know when I write letters to Canada about our various contracts there I have to specify US$ from Can$.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. It's the $ and the D that are redundant to me. Not the US part.

Considering how much I depend on this board to answer my questions and provide advice, I feel it is my duty to contribute.
Why are you the way that you are? Honestly, every time I try to do something fun or exciting, you make it not that way. I hate so much about the things that you choose to be. Michael Scott

Okay, where did the .48 come from?

If you only have your PayPal account connected to a credit card (as opposed to a checking account), they take a commission out of it. (I also have those people send the money to Eric's PayPal account, because PayPal wants me to "upgrade" my account to accept very many credit card payments, but if I do that, they start taking a cut on every payment, whether it's credit card or checking account.) So anyway, at least one person has paid that way, so the 48 cents is a remnant of the commission PayPal took out.

I will be contributing as soon as I have the energy to figure out Pay Pal, maybe tonight, but definitely after I nap on the couch for a while.

I might could come up with the fifty-two cents so it will be in even dollar amounts again, Adrian...

Seriously, I'll figure out a way to contribute something. Pay Pal is easiest, unless I have another brain fart and can't remember how to use it.

I'm okay with Adam's suggestion that I make glittery, gaudy, cheesy, totally unnecessary name tags, also, as long as I don't end up having to make one for every person who pledges even a tiny amount. If it's held to maybe 10 or 12 generous contributors, I think I could do that for youse guys.

I'd like a tee shirt, personally.

Maybe we should have a nice giveaway prize for the person who contributes the highest amount, and if that sounds tacky, it could be anonymous as to who won the prize.
Have a nice day, unless you already have other plans.

I tried to send money through Paypal but it was returned. Did I not use the right method?

I sent you an email explaining it, did you not get it?

The gist of the email was this:

If your PayPal account is only connected to a credit card, I need you to send the payment to eric at ericdsnider dot com, and PayPal will take a commission. If you can connect it to a checking account, then you can send it to me and they won't take out a commission.

Thanks.
