Funny things kids say

Postby Momma Snider » Wed 07 May, 2014 02:41 pm

I think there used to be a thread about this, but the only one I can find is on the Religion thread, and this one isn't religious. But it's funny. A little boy at my school was assigned to write about what he'd buy his mom for Mother's Day if he had a million dollars, and he wrote, "Prescription drugs. They're her favorite, so she doesn't kill anyone at work."

Come to think of it, that's the best thing my Cymbalta does for me, too!

It's actually even funnier coming from this particular kid. He's in SDC, but I never have understood why. He's very articulate, but very tiny, of Asian heritage. One day he came through the office and said to me, very politely, "Excuse me, Sir, but do you know where Mr. W is?"

What exactly is SDC? I'm sure it's something I'm familiar with by some other name, but other than two of my initials, it isn't ringing any bells, as it were.

Sorry. SDC is Special Day Class, meaning special education for the full day. There's also RSP, which is Resource something something, meaning special ed but only for a certain number of hours per week.

This is from an actual 1st grader at my actual school:

Write a sentence for each word: FAST, NEST, LOST (etc. )

Francisco (English Language Learner, meaning his first language is not English):
Fast I get up.
Nest I brush my teeth.
Lost I put on my close.

Here's another one, from the same class but a different student:

Sebastien drew little baby chicks on his workbook page.

Took me a moment to realize why.

The directions read: Put a check by the words with the sound of oo as in Cool.

Two cute ones from my grandkids:
Last night Lane's family was reading scriptures. It was Summer's turn. she's 2 1/2, so I guess Kelly reads a phrase and Summer repeats it. Kelly was fighting a sneeze, and Summer decided to go ahead without her. Her best guess was, "Now, therefore..."

And Jeff's 4yo was singing in his room the other day. Aunt Laura asked if he was singing to himself, and he said no, he was singing to his whiteboard, and the song he was making up as he went along was called Reign of Terror. Or it could have been Rain of Terror. Either way, it's going on Iron Maiden's next album.

I miss my grandkids SO MUCH. I haven't even seen Emily, the teenager, in a month, because she went to a Fallout Boys concert two weekends ago when she should have been with her dad.

Well, yeah, it does, but I guess in this case I see her way more often than I see my other grandkids, so I shouldn't complain. And I guess I don't REALLY want them all living with me.
