New Forum

Postby shrff » Fri 08 Oct, 2004 10:17 am

How about a new forum for all of the political propaganda most of us don't want to talk about? It would be kind of like a private message board for Matt, Slash, and Jensendude. I can't even browse the main forum without feeling bombarded lately.

As you will recall, I proposed the idea of having different forums in the past, and a huge majority of people said NO.

However, I will consider this idea. If anyone has any good reasons why I should or should not create a "Politics" forum, let me know either in this thread or in a private message (remembering, of course, to send the private message to Eric's Fat Brother, as I NEVER check the PMs for Eric's Moderator Brother). I will give it a day or two, then I will make my decision.

(And if you post in this thread, give me your reasons, but don't be overly long-winded. This thread will be deleted sooner or later, so don't bother being profound. Just tell me your reasons.)

[*]People who want to avoid politics can easier, and vice versa
[*]Makes it easier for you should people get out of hand, and you need to delete posts (at least in my mind it would be)
[*]It just makes sense to me to add it. Maybe have it called "Religion/Politics"

My only reason for saying no would be that if they were in a different forum, I would never read them. I may not comment, but I do feel that my horizons are expanded through reading the threads.

Ok, so basically it's just my laziness that says no. The rest of me says yes. :)

I think taking the games out of the regular forum made the regular forum less fun. Now I never play the games, but that's probably due to the fact that I never go into the games forum.

I always thought that a TV show forum would be good (for those of us who don't care one whit about Buffy, Angel, or reality TV).

If you want to see the new posts since your last visit, you can bookmark this link:

That's what I use, and then I can see all the new posts, no matter what the forum is.

I'm for a Political forum. Though I think if we give it a few months the political posts might slow down. But then again, they might not.

I don't go to the games forum. And I guess I don't really miss them.

I would be all for a TV/Movie Forum though.

Against. Not unless there's a separate fluff forum.

That's what the Main Forum is, isn't it? The Fluff Forum. And please, I'm tired of the political posts. And I usually enjoy talking politics. It just seems that all we have here now are political posts. I almost long for the days of CAL's random multi-daily posts of Fluff.

Please, Jeff, please.

Aren't I CAL?

In my opinion, I think the politics thread titles are pretty straightforward, therefore easy for someone that doesn't want to read 'em to skip 'em.

I'm with Ryan, I'm against it.

I'm against it, too. It's an election year, what do you all expect? This hasn't happened before since it's been four years and the board has grown since then. Whether you like it or not, politics is a part of our daily lives and affects us all tremendously. Games do not. If anything should be segregated, it should be the endless threads of mindless crap. I come to the board to be amused, but also to discuss adult things in an adult forum. I need discussions like those in the religious and political threads to sort out issues in my own mind and I appreciate that they are interspersed with the other issues that affect all of us in the general forum, serious or not.

If they're that boring, skip over them. Not all threads have to be about you.

I'm against it, and for the same reasons as everyone has already stated. :) Also, I have this thing where I have to mark all the threads read (or actually read them) before I can leave the forum, and I'd rather not have to visit more forums to keep my obsessive-compulsive tendencies satisfied.
