Play-by-web board game sites

Postby Grudunza » Mon 12 Nov, 2007 05:45 pm

I've only recently discovered the whole Eurogame thing, and that's gotten me back into playing board games in a big way. Probably a big reason I hadn't played many board games over the last several years is because of lack of time and people to play with (not everybody is into the same kinds of board games). Thankfully, I've discovered there are some great websites with many popular board games implemented very well to play online, a turn at a time (you can set it to receive an e-mail when it's your turn, or just check back every so often).

Here's a few sites that each have several games... You'll have to click the links to see the full list of games there. The games listed after the links are the ones that I'm familiar with and could play/teach if anyone is interested. - Tikal (a favorite of mine), Hoity Toity, Wallenstein (I'm just learning that one) - Mr. Jack (my current favorite) - Hansa (I'm learning that) - Kill Dr. Lucky, 10 Days in Africa (This site isn't actually played a turn at a time at your convenience... It's a Java client, so you have to be there throughout the game.) - Hey, That's My Fish! - Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne (This is also a Java site.) - Vampiring, Cartagena

And I know there are other sites, but those are the ones I've checked out. If anyone would like to learn or play the above-mentioned games, let me know. I'm signed up as Grudunza on all of those sites.

The only one of those games that I've ever played is Settlers of Catan. In fact, I think we should schedule a game-playing night of Settlers sometime. How about this Thursday night? Anyone?
