Name your band

Postby KMD » Wed 08 Apr, 2009 11:49 am

Momma S. made an offhand comment in another thread, about naming a band "Outwardly Outraged" and I thought "How have we not had this in the Games forum?

So, name your band, and the type of music it would play!

Off Key.

Any type of music could go well with a name like that. A quartet, punk, jazz, rock, jive, and so forth. I will forever exclude R&B, rap, and country from any and all bands that I do play in.

Depending on the genre of music being played, the name could be tweaked slightly.

Punk - Way Off Key
Quartet - The Off Keys
----
-A new custom sig every time. Gotta read 'em all!

"The Rival Bat Dung Gatherers"

This name comes from an article by Dave Barry from years back, and when he stated that this would make an excellent name for a rock band, I completely agreed. And ever since, it is the first thing that I think of whenever anyone asks for a band name suggestion.

Type of music? Well, it would probably be a ska band or a new-age swing band (kind of like Big Bad Voodoo Daddy or the Mighty Mighty Bosstones). I still think it is a shame that the new swing movement kind of fizzled out a few years back. I love that stuff, and BBVD still put on a great show.

I am somewhat self-centered, so I always want the band to feature my name. "Rob from Reality" is one that I got from a line in a John Grisham book. Or it might have been Brad Meltzer, I forget.

I don't know what kind of music it would have. Probably Billy Joel covers, mostly.

When I was at BYU I started a band called "The Dress and Grooming Standards." We wore suits and played really hard core metal. We were not well received.

Kermit and the Frogs. The band members should all wear mime outftis and play accordian-heavy Frenchie music.

Okay, Adamski, now we know what you were doing while waiting for your new iPhone, but you neglected to include what type of music your bands would play. ;)
