Regular Heaven or ... ?

Postby EthanBeckstead » Wed 08 Sep, 2010 07:59 am

I'm just wondering what people would choose.

Also, I've never created a poll before. If I fail, I fail.
I've been busy interviewing in Utah. Hope you all are doing well.

I like cake better than pie. So I'd rather go to regular heaven and eat all the cake.
Indifference. It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but it doesn't take any to just sit there with a dumb look on your face.

I interpret this as meaning that you are:

A. In heaven
B. And there is pie.

So I go with pie. I'll take the Key Lime.

It's a Deep Thought, right?

I figure regular heaven isn't actually heaven unless there is pie. And cake. And brownies. And cookies too. But pie heaven is just pie. So, gotta go with the one with the most options.

Yeah, I see it that way. I see it as being just like heaven, only with even more pie.

Well, it might be a trick, but if not... mmm boy!

I agree. There needs to be a variety of good desserts. And chips and salsa, and some fresh bread, and a good spinach artichoke dip. Some nice fresh brushetta...

OK, fine. It needs to be FOOD heaven.

Ditto. Food is something I care about deeply. If there isn't crazy-awesome food in heaven, it isn't heaven.

I chose regular heaven, because I assumed (wrongly, I hope) that pie heaven would be just like a plain old world, only with lots of pie. If it is real heaven PLUS pie, I'll vote for that, but I can get along without pie, really. Not that I didn't just eat an entire homemade-from-fresh-peaches peach pie Monday, but I would have been fine without it, if it had not been left in my refrigerator after the family reunion.

Bread is an essential for heaven, for me. Or at least that's what I wish I had right now.

I know I'm strange, but I really, really like vegetables. So if there is a whole lot of pie but no veggie dishes, then I will not be happy.

And if I'm not happy, then it's not heaven. So I'm going with the Regular Heaven crowd.

I seem to be in overripe banana heaven today, and it's not cutting it.

I picked pie heaven because hey, heaven is awesome, but heaven with sweets is The Awesome. Make mine a Ben & Jerry's ice cream pie and we are good to go.
If you smile at me I will understand, 'cause that is something everybody everywhere does in the same language.

I am interpreting it as heaven with all the normal food, but with an emphasis in pie. In other words, there will always be pie available for dessert. I can get behind that, as long as the pie is fruit pie and not exclusively cream pies.

Pish-tosh! The very notion of regular heaven would mean that there is always enough pie, of whatever kind anyone wanted, as much as they want, and whenever they want.

I submit that the need for a separate Pie Heaven is redundant.

I think in Pie Heaven, that's all you get to eat. I would tire of that really fast.

And I submit that when we get up to "Pie Heaven" we will all get in a huge debate about what qualifies as pie. Is pizza a pie? How about quiche? What about a pot pie? Is it really a pie? Is cheesecake a pie? What will be the definition of pie?

And then we'll have one faction trying to stay with the classic dessert definition of pie and another one trying to include more radical ideas of pie. So then we'll get together and elect officials to debate the topic. Someone will probably decide what pie is, but then the people will decide that they didn't have authority to decide that for everyone, so then it will come to a vote by the voice of the people, and then the voice of the people will pick the classic definition, but then someone in authority will say that it was against the rules of heaven for the people to prevent the less classic forms of pie from being counted as pie. So then people will talk about calling pie a "round dish" so that the other forms of pie won't feel excluded from the pie people. It would all be a "round dish" and then somehow that will make everyone happy.

And then it will turn into "Round Dish Heaven," but I, myself, will all this time be eating pie, blithely unaware of the ruckus around me because hey, pie is good. Mmmm... pie.

...err... Maybe in "Round Dish Heaven" we will just have whipped cream fights?

EthanKitty, where did you go? This was your poll, so I think you're gonna have to come back here and elaborate a bit on what you meant by "Regular Heaven" and "Pie Heaven."

It's swiftly deteriorating into a potentially ugly situation.

This is what happens when you have a bunch of militant piemongers trying to enforce their idea of a great dessert onto the public at large. (Emphasis on the "large.")

I'm KIDDING!! I'm KIDDING!!!

This applies to BOTH sides of the pie debate. :)

Well, it's all a little simpler than you might think. LowDog recognized it, and many of you might also know about Jack Handy.
